Update on DDoS Attacks and Free Blessings!

Over the last weeks, many of our players repeatedly suffered from connection problems which were caused by heavy DDoS attacks.

Ever since these attacks started, our technical staff has been working on this issue with high priority in close cooperation with our service provider. While countermeasures have already been initiated, the attacks are still going on. Rest assured that we will continue to do what we can to solve these difficulties in order to provide a trouble free game experience and to ensure that you can enjoy Tibia again.

In order to alleviate the negative impact these attacks obviously have on your gameplay experience, all temple NPCs will hand out all blessings which are available in Tibia for free and for all players from tomorrow's server save on. You can get the blessings repeatedly so just ask a temple NPC for "blessing" in order to get protected. This option will be kept ingame for the time being until we have the situation under control again.

In addition, we are thinking about further measures to make amends for the loss of fun and for the frustration you had to put up with during this difficult time: for example, starting a double XP week once the situation is back to normal again. Let us know what you think about that or if you have other suggestions.

Once again, we would like to offer our sincerest apologies for inconveniences caused by these malicious attacks.

Thank you for bearing with us!

Spring into Life

Eons ago, when the great war raged among all creatures to gain control over all of Tibia the race of the dragons failed to keep the rule over the land. Due to all the heavy losses the dragons suffered in all those bloody and brutal battles they retreated to their lairs to lick their wounds.
Even though many adventurers have the courage to enter the caves of Garsharak's descendants to prove their bravery, to obtain a trophy, or to free the land of this dangerous threat, the dragons grow in number day for day again.

Lately, several adventurers reported unusual activities in almost all known dragon lairs. Lots of dragon eggs have been sighted in their caves and it is only a question of time when the next generation of these nasty creatures will be incubated...

This spring, the fire breathing breed will hatch again to lead this world into chaos. From April 16 till April 23, dragon hatchlings will spawn in almost every dragon lair in Tibia. The courage of all brave adventurers who set out to prevent a new age of darkness will be rewarded: every slaughtered dragon hatchling will yield 25% more experience.
Furthermore, five surprise nests are hidden in almost every city and everyone who finds them has the chance to get something nice.
In addition, colourful eggs can still be obtained by hunting rabbits, chickens, and silver rabbits. Or you just can easily buy them from Imalas, Maria and Bonifacius during this event.

Sharpen your blade, gather your icicle runes and save the world once more!

Have fun!

A Visit to Kazordoon

Kazordoon, famous for its rock cut architecture, and center of the dwarven empire is located in the middle of the main continent of Tibia.

History

Before the dwarfs created this gigantic mountain city, it was only a huge homogenous rock. Kazordoon was carved out of it in the era known as the Age of Chaos, the time before mankind was created, the time, when the elder gods created elves and dwarfs to fight the overwhelming dark creatures of Zathroth and his minions. The Elves and the dwarfs were too weak to prevail over the dark menace that ruled supreme over almost whole Tibia. Nevertheless, both races managed to not surrender contrary to all the other races that had been sent to Tibia to fight against the upcoming darkness. While the elves found their asylum in the depths of impenetrable forests, the dwarfs chose the ancient and gigantic mountain, the Big Old One, as their new residence.

The dwarfs had a lot of good reasons to choose this colossal rock as their new home. The nature of the mountain offered various advantages: Enough space for an entire nation and the possibility to expand in any direction without being seen on the surface. An underground river and the option to cultivate mushrooms and wheat solved the problems of drinking water and food supply from the first day on.
Furthermore, it is not easy to find but easy to defend against any hostile superiority. Even if there are several entrances to Kazordoon, just few troops are needed to defend the narrow aisles to the kingdom.

Due to this safe and secret isolation from the rest of the world it was possible for the dwarven race to develop in many directions. Be it the skill to brew that wonderful mushroombeer or their farming qualities, the dwarfs know how to impress. They are self supporters and so, their skills improved a lot during all those years of separation. The dwarven smithery, which is incomparable to any other blacksmithing, and their unique mining skill are just other examples of their unmatched craftsmanship. Actually, it seems that there is no rock or mountain that is safe from a dwarven hammer and pick. In addition, the dwarven scientists used their time well to enhance their technologies and brought some of them almost to perfection, for example the steam technology.
Of course, the fighting skills of the dwarven army should not be forgotten. Even the best armor and weapon does not make a good warrior out of a man unless he is experienced and trained at fighting. While the elves focus on the natural power of druids and the agility of paladins, the dwarfs train their troops as sorcerers or knights. The combination of their superior fighting skills, the easy to defend structure of Kazordoon, and their magnificent weapons and armor is the reason why no enemy has ever succeeded in conquering the dwarven empire, yet.

One example of the superior fighting skills and the dwarven courage is the so called War of Welcome. This war took place near the bridge south of Kazordoon, better known as Dwarven Bridge, and lasted for about a year. In this war, the dwarven warriors showed the orcish hordes their military supremacy and came out as victors even though they had been outnumbered.

Kazordoon Today

Nowadays, Kazordoon has left its isolation and is open for everyone. Visitors are travelling there to gaze at the architecture of the mountain city, and, of course, the famous Colossus of Kazordoon that was built as a deterrent, a fortress, and as a monument.
Adventurers and explorers come to Kazordoon to search for quests and hidden treasures in the deeper tunnels. The mystery of the basilisk, for example, is still one of the most closely guarded secrets of Tibia. Brave and fearless women and men are trying to solve this riddle to this day. Even for those, who are not interested in such stories, this town has plenty to offer for brave hearts. You can spend hours or even days in the inner and outer mines of Kazordoon, fighting those renegade dwarfs, who abandon civilization and claim to own the deeper parts of this place. You should also be prepared to face hostile and stronger creatures like giant spiders, which turned a part of the mines into their hatchery.

Traders come here as well to acquire dwarven armor and weapons to sell them at a profit to all the other warriors and adventurers in Tibia. Others again, just come to taste the famous dwarven beer or to take a break from the loud and busy world in the peaceful and quiet Kazordoon.

Today, Kazordoon is reigned by Emperor Kruzak Dustbeard, who resides at his throne room in one of the upper storeys. If you are looking for a promotion you can ask the emperor for an audience. Usually, if you are worthy and willing to donate a fee, Kruzak will promote you to an elite knight, a master sorcerer, an elder druid, or a royal paladin. But you should choose your words carefully if you decide to talk him. The mighty ruler stands on ceremony and will punish everyone who does not adhere to etiquette.

Sights

There is more than only one way to enter the dwarven empire of Kazordoon. The main entrance, which you reach after passing through the famous Colossus, leads you some stairs down to a long passage with lava and pillars (1) from where you can choose to either use the ore wagon system to explore the city or keep moving on foot.
After going some stairs up again to the northeast (2), or choosing the correct ore wagon route (3) you will reach the depot (4) of Kazordoon. There you will find Lokur, who manages the post office and the bank of Kazordoon. He also sells weekly tickets for the city's ore wagon system. By using the right ore wagon, you can directly reach the main gate, the temple, the shops, or the steamboat, which is located deep in the inner mines of Kazordoon. With the steamboat you can travel to Cormaya or to Farmine. Just talk to Brodrosch and ask him for a passage. You can also buy the weekly tickets for the ore wagons from him.
One level below the depot you can find several stores and the tavern of the city. At the north you will find Kroox and Uzgod, who offer you a wide range of armor and weapons, both buying and selling. The equipment shop of Nezil and Bezil is located east of the depot. If you are looking for diamonds, necklaces, or a wedding ring for your beloved wife you should pay Tezila a visit. Her jewelry store is located on the same level as the other shops, just a bit south from the equipment store. If you are not interested in shopping, or just want to sit down for a minute, you should visit the Jolly Axeman Tavern, west of Uzgods weapon store. Take the chance and talk to Maryza or Jimbin to enjoy the unique taste of the famous dwarven beer or other delicacies.
If you are interested in Amaro de Quester's story of his life among rotworms you might want to talk to Humgolf and his rotworms to better understand the true and gentle nature of these creatures. You can find him northeast from the Jolly Axeman Tavern.

Facts about present day Kazordoon
  • Approximately 2.17 % of all Tibians reside in Kazordoon nowadays.
  • About 84 % of the inhabitants of Kazordoon are male, and only around 16 % of the inhabitants are female.
  • It seems that Kazordoon Citizens do not want to tie the knot. About 97.55 % of them are unmarried.
  • The average level of characters who reside in Kazordoon is 29 - in comparison: the average level of characters in Carlin is 22.44; in Edron 34.69; in Yalahar 78.89.
  • The main vocation found in Kazordoon is the knight, which makes up around 42 % of the population there.
  • around 15 % of all citizens are druids.
  • around 23 % of all citizens are sorcerers.
  • around 19 % of all citizens are paladins.

If you leave the depot westward you can see one of the famous smithies (5). Walk further to the west and you will find some stairs. If you go downstairs (6), next to the furniture shop of Iwar, you will find yourself again on the floor with the equipment, armor, and weapon store. If you keep moving downstairs you can visit the temple district to become a citizen of Kazordoon, or the game rooms to spend some time playing. You can also find the great geomancer Kawill and the head pyromancer Pydar, who are selling both parts of the blessing the Spark of the Phoenix.
Down there, you can also see the big mushroom farms of Kazordoon, stop by the mushroombeer brewery, or pay Talphion, the chief technomancer of the technomancers guild, a visit.
Furthermore, you will find the entry to the inner mines of Kazordoon and the way to Dwacatra, the prison isle. If you decide to go there, you better sharpen your blade, since the prisoners there are imprisoned for a reason.

If you do not go downstairs, but upstairs to the west (7) you will reach the Armory and the Halls of Sorcery, where you can find Etzel, the keeper of magical secrets and teacher of spells and Sigurd, who runs Etzel's magic store.
Two levels further up, Emperor Kruzak resides in his throne room. Near the throne you can marvel at the treasure room of Kazordoon that is definitely worth visiting if you want to see a pair of dragon scale legs with your own eyes, for example.

Northwest of the depot there are two other stairs that bring you to the farms (8) or to the Colossus fortress (9). At the farms you can enjoy the magnificent view or leave the mountain city through an elevator and a secret passage. Rumour has it that if you want to visit the famous Colossus fortress you will first need to obtain a certain key. However, there is no proof that anyone has ever been able to enter the fortress, yet. Another riddle of the dwarven mountain city.

If you want to take part in a competition or watch a prize fight, the fighting pit (10) is the right place.
Near this small arena, you can see the Marble Guildhall (11), which is one of three guildhalls that are located inside Kazordoon. The other two guildhalls are the Granite Guildhall and the Iron Guildhall. All three are marvellous and architectural masterpieces of the dwarven art of construction, just like the entire city.

All in all, it is easy to get lost in Kazordoon. It is strongly recommended to have a trustworthy guide at your side when you visit the mountain city of the dwarfs for the first time. But even if Kazordoon seems to be very confusing and it is hard to keep track of the map, it is said that once in a lifetime, everyone should have visited this gigantic place and evidence of dwarven skills. With luck you will also find a way back out again.

Enjoy your stay in Kazordoon!

Winners of Dream House Contest

Last month, we ran an interesting contest asking you to describe your dream house in Tibia. Within two weeks, we got more than 1,000 submissions covering a wide range of ideas and designs. We were overwhelmed by your imagination, skill, and sense of humour. We really had a great time reading all your creative entries. Thank you for your enthusiasm and contributions!

Some of you have been burning with curiosity since then to hear the winners. We do not want to keep you in suspense any longer!
Ten submissions really caught our eye and will be implemented with the summer update as close to the original ideas as possible. It was a tough decision but we have finally decided who the winners of our contest are: Here they are, in alphabetical order:
Applause and congratulations!

Our decision was not only based on originality since there were a lot of entries with similar topics and themes. We also payed attention to how the ideas were described, and how well we thought they would work and fit in the game. Of course, it was also a matter of taste and appeal. In the end, we were pretty happy with our choices and we hope you will be too even if your favourite might not be among the winners.

In the course of today, the winners will receive 90 days of premium time, a CM token, and a new rare deco item, the miniature house, which has been implemented with today's client patch. They are the first ones to get their hands on this item since it will not be obtainable otherwise until the summer update release.
In addition, each of the content team members had a favourite entry that did not make it among the winners. Nevertheless, they wanted to acknowledge the efforts of the respective author by surprising them with a token of appreciation. Therefore, in the course of the next week, the following participants will received a badge of glory inscribed by the content team member who liked their idea most: Miithrandi with Laughing Treasures was chosen by Chayenne, Heavenly Shot with Hall of Elements was chosen by Count Tofifti, Grapes Salmon with Colossal Deactivated Stone Golem was chosen by Lionet, Marcus de Laurentis with Four Seasons Village was chosen by Knightmare, and Dragon Jam with Dragon Ruins was chosen by our graphic artist Penciljack.

Congratulations!

A Couple of Fixes

With today's server save, we released a small client patch to address a few issues, for example:
  • Characters can now always log out in a protection zone regardless of whether or not the logout block is active.
  • Orockle who now also gives information about the status of the Hive world change when asked about "news" or "status".
  • The speed boost of the depth galea helmet now works correctly.
  • New graphics for each of the four enchanted versions of the barbarian axe have been added.
  • Several small issues with new fansite items have been fixed.
We also fixed a couple of issues in the Beta Flash client, for example: the spell list now updates correctly when the filter or sort mode is changed. Also, we fixed a bug with mouse look in classic controls and addressed an issue which caused a crash of the Beta Flash client when displaying a tool tip for the L1 action button.

Spring Patch 2012

Finally, this year's spring patch has been released! It addresses a couple of topics on which we continuously received feedback in the past. Here is a short summary of the main changes:

As we announced in our first teaser, the two world changes Liquid Black and the Hive now work independently from each other which means you can advance both on the hive side and the deepling side at the same time. Also, new elite opponents have joined the deepling troops and the Hive Born have bred six bosses. The Paw and Fur society now offers bosses for every task of the last two level ranges, level 80 – 129, and level 130 plus. Also, a couple of Paw and Fur society creatures and bosses have been strengthened and received a loot improvement. Moreover, the Easter event has been replaced by the brand new event "Spring into Life" which will start on April 16.

Our second teaser focused on the new mechanisms to alleviate the negative effects of lag and kicks for players. If your connection is gone, monsters now ignore your character for 30 seconds, and depending on your vocation your character will be kicked out of the game after 40, 50, or 60 seconds. Furthermore, a character will be ignored by monsters for 10 seconds upon login. This time will help you to orient yourself but you cannot fight unless you move your character or the 10 seconds are up. In addition, if the quality of your connection falls below a certain threshold and seems to be laggy, a special icon in the client will inform you about it.

Further adjustment and changes were presented in our third teaser. For example, stacking is now possible on squares with a level or quest door on Optional PvP worlds to prevent that players get trapped by others with these doors. Besides, the loot of a couple of monsters has been improved and a few hunting grounds have been extended. Moreover, the rewards of the Demon Oak quest have been adjusted. The royal crossbow and the spellbook of dark mysteries have been replaced by two unique rewards. Players who already obtained a Demon Oak reward before the patch have a one-time chance to exchange it by bringing their item to Oldrak.

Last but not least, as we informed you in a special teaser yesterday, we also released a number of Beta Flash client improvements today including the spell list widget, the hotkey set extension, and a couple of action bar changes, for example.
In addition to the changes we already announced in our teasers, we also addressed some minor issues and bugs. For example, the underwater drowning protection for the depth galea helmet has been fixed, and several missing items have been added to Yasir's buy list.

The patch will download automatically when you log into the game. If you should encounter any problems, you can alternatively download the new client 9.5 from our download section.

Enjoy!

Beta Flash Client Improvements

Together with the spring patch, we will release a whole lot of Beta Flash client improvements to enrich your Tibia experience further. They will not only include some technical adjustments to enhance the performance of the Beta Flash client, especially when it comes to input handling. We also kept on improving the Beta Flash client according to your feedback and wishes during the last months. So what will be new?

Spell List Widget

The new spell list widget will not only provide a neat overview of spells but also allow you to filter and sort them, and to assign them to an action button in your action bar easily via drag and drop. In the "View" tab of the spell list widget you will be able to filter spells to only view those which are known to your character, and available for your character's vocation and level. Spells which your character cannot use will be greyed out.
As you can see in the screenshot to the right, you will also be able to choose between two different views: the list view and the container view. In addition, clicking on a spell will provide you with some interesting details such as mana cost and price, just to name a two. Furthermore, you will be able to sort spells by name or group, for example. The "Filter" tab will allow you to filter the displayed spells even more.

Hotkey Set Extension

Eight hotkey sets are not enough for you? Here you go! After the patch, you will have up to twelve hotkey sets in total. Adding a new hotkey set will be easy, and you can choose whether you want to use the default settings as a starting point or copy one of your already existing sets and alter it. Of course, you will also be able to delete sets which you do not need anymore. Moreover, navigating through your hotkey sets will be more comfortable: arrows on the right and left side of the hotkey set button allow you to switch to the previous or to the next hotkey set.
Besides, you will be able to choose which hotkey you want to use to toggle the chat mode on and off. The default setting will be Ctrl+Enter.
Please note that due to the hotkey set changes all existing hotkey sets in the Beta Flash client will be reset to the default settings but your actions in the action bar will be preserved. Also, your previous hotkey settings cannot be imported into Beta Flash client anymore. We hope that the overall improvements make up for this necessity.

Action Bar Improvements

We have addressed and improved quite a few things about action buttons and action bars. For example:
  • You will be able to lock or unlock your action bars by clicking on the lock symbol in the upper right corner of the game window. As long as the lock mode is activated you cannot switch actions buttons or put items and spells via drag or drop there, for example.
  • You will be able to scroll through action buttons if your mouse cursor is placed above an action bar.
  • If you press Shift while switching one action button with another via drag and drop the assigned hotkey will move along with the action.
  • If you use action buttons to equip weapons or shields, it will be possible to switch between one-handed and two-handed weapons. In addition, both the Beta Flash client as well as the stand-alone client will allow you to manually switch between one-handed and two-handed weapons and shields via drag and drop.
  • Pressing and holding a hotkey or action button will repeat the assigned action according to certain rules. For example, if a spell is assigned to it, you cast it anew as soon as the cooldown is over. Please note that this change will also apply to hotkey usage in the stand-alone client except for runes.
Further changes concerning action bars are listed in the Auditorium so make sure to have a look.

Have we piqued your curiosity? Upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to the latest version 11.2 to enjoy the new improvements of the Beta Flash client which will be released with the upcoming spring patch.

Have fun!
